A PROFESSIONAL LEARNING OPPORTUNITY FOR VET TEACHERS IN GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS

The Victorian Government is funding the VDC to deliver a professional learning initiative for VET Teachers - the Industry Placement Program. For further information.

2021 FREE PROFESSIONAL LEARNING (PL) PROGRAMS

The Victorian Department of Education and Training provides funding to the VDC to develop and deliver professional learning programs for:

  1. Skills First training providers
  2. ACFE-registered training providers
  3. Family Violence Professional Learning Program

In 2020 all professional learning was delivered in online, in response to COVID-19 restrictions. In 2021 the VDC is building on this experience and feedback from training providers and is developing blended learning approaches to delivering professional learning.

In Semester 1, VDC will be delivering one webinars and three-hour virtual workshops.

New blended learning options will be offered in Semester 2. Face to Face sessions is scheduled to recommence at VDC in Semester 2 2021.

All Sessions are aligned to the domains and capabilities prescribed in the VET Practitioner Capability Framework (IBSA 2011).

1. Professional Learning for all Skills First providers

Available in Semester 1:

1.1. The VET Teaching Theory and Practice virtual workshops will draw on educational theory and VET policy to promote reflective practice and build advanced training and assessment skills.

Teaching Theory Series

  • Learners and how they learn
  • Creating effective learning experiences

Teaching Practice Series:

  • Creating Supportive Learning Environments virtual workshop
  • Evaluating Teaching to Improve Learning Outcomes
  • Assessing Learners Effectively
  • Creating Effective Learning Experiences

1.2. The Quality in the Skills First Contract online professional learning sessions are for teachers (trainers and assessors) and other staff directly involved in directing students to training options at Skills First

Quality in the Skills First Contract Series:

  • Effective Training and Assessment Strategies
  • Planning Suitable and Appropriate Training

1.3. VET workforce: overview of Gender Equity in the adult learning context. This webinar will provide participants with an introduction to the concepts around gender equity in the workplace and the case for working towards gender equality.

2.1 Leadership for Learn Local managers, coordinators and committees of management.

2.2 Professional development practice and pathways for teachers engaging with vulnerable learners – also open to TAFE trainers and assessors

3.Family Violence Professional Learning Programs

The Victorian Department of Education and Training has funded the VDC to coordinate professional learning for Vocational Education and Training teachers, trainers and assessors delivering family violence related courses.
