CEO MESSAGE: ACDEVEG VET Trainer Award / EdVET 2018

Wed 29 August | News Archive,VDC News

I would like to highlight two upcoming opportunities that may be of interest.

Call for Nominations: ACDEVEG VET Trainer Award

Applications are now open for the inaugural VET teacher/trainer teacher-educator award which ACDEVEG (the Australian Council of Deans of Education Vocational Education Group) is offering in conjunction with PwC’s Skills for Australia. It is for teachers of the TAE Cert IV and/or Diploma of VET. Nominations are open until 15th September.

ACDEVEG advises the Australian Council of Deans of Education (ACDE) Board and represents the ACDE on Vocational Education and Training (VET) matters. The VET Teacher/Trainer Educator Award – VET sector (TAE) programs is to recognise and celebrate individuals with consistently high quality teaching practice in the field of VET teaching and training (TAE). The award is supported by PwC’s Skills for Australia, which is the Skills Service Organisation which maintains the TAE qualifications.

There is a separate award for teacher-educators in university courses in VET pedagogy. If anyone would like that documentation, please contact Erica Smith at [email protected].  You can find out more about ACDEVEG here

EdVET 2018

VDC is a co-sponsor of the eWorks annual EdVET conference being held at William Angliss Institute in Melbourne on Monday 29 October. The conference is of interest to VET managers, teachers and LMS administrators.

EdVET 2018 features sessions on innovative use of educational technology, learner analytics, next generation digital learning, the new Moodle Mobile app and more. MoodleRooms’ Blackboard Ally for accessible course content and Personalized Learning Designer will also be showcased.

Key note speaker, Yvette Drager (Department of Training and Workforce Development, WA) will open the conference with a session about Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality and consider case studies of how these technologies are being used by VET practitioners around the world. Further information and registration details can be found here.
